Default GE washer won't spin or agitate

Hello --

My tenants have a washing machine that I am hoping to fix for them if possible. It is a GE WHDSR316G1WW. It fills and drains, but does not spin or agitate. It is dead quiet when it should be agitating. During the spin you hear the drain pump, but no noise at all from the motor.

I tested the magnet lid switch and it is good. I can see power at the motor from the lid switch when the lid is closed, and it also ohms out zero when the lid is closed, and open with the lid is open.

The motor has a circuit board on it and several connectors, but I don't have a schematic so I couldn't go any further.

I tried regular and delicate in all positions and got nothing, so my guess is that the timer is good. I have read through the forum history for similar problems and have heard that there may be a fusible link, but I have not tested that yet. Also, I moved the pulley by hand, and it seemed to move smoothly. (I only tried it in one direction however)

How do I test to see if the motor or the circuit card or something else is causing the problem? My tenants think the washer is less than 2 years old. Would this model still be under warranty?

Thanks

Hi Dave,

No, on this model you only have a 1 yr. full warranty and nothing else.

Unfortunately, GE doesn't supply any schematics online I can reference to. There should be a schematic either in your console or inside the cabinet.

I haven't had a chance to work on this model before that has this fuse link and new motor design with the control board on it, so I couldn't tell exactly the definite part that would fix it.

Hopefully another tech. or member that sees this thread and knows what part will fix it can post here.

We have a special program here, all parts you order from our links we post are returnable within 30 days for a FULL refund if they don't fix the problem.

Here's the fuseable link for your model:
Manufacturer part number WH49X10055 is RepairClinic item number 1475932
WH49X10055

Here's the timer for your model:
Manufacturer part number WH12X10350 is RepairClinic item number 1264501
WH12X10350

Here's the motor for your model:
Manufacturer part number WH20X10051 is RepairClinic item number 1475785
WH20X10051

Thanks Jake.

Those are definitely the parts I was looking at yesterday. Is it possible to buy just the board without the motor, or does it only come as an assembly?

I will test the fusible link. Hopefully, I can find the schematic.

Ok Dave,

No, unfortunately, they don't sell just the motor board separate.

Let us know how it goes.

Anyone else had any experience with the GE washing machines that have the new motor design with the control board on it? The motor looks absolutely pristine as does the whole washer. If it turns out to be the motor assembly, I am betting it is the circuit card which I can't buy separately.

I will look at it again this weekend. Hopefully I can find the schematics.

Thanks
