Default Kenmore Side by Side not refrigerating or freezing

I have a Kenmore model no: 363.5023200...bought it used so I can't tell how old it is. It is a side by side.

Over the last week, the food in the began to defrost in the freezer and now the refrigerator section is warmer. There's a fan blowing in the freezer...but it is obviously not working properly.

How can I tell if this is a goner?

Hi,

If you can post the serial# I can tell you what year it is.

I'd first pull it out from the wall and take the lower access panel off and see if your condenser fan motor is blowing, it sits next to your compressor.

If thats blowing good, then take the food out of the freezer and take the lower back panel off from inside your freezer and look at your evaporator coils, they ALL should have a thin layer of frost on them, not built-up frost, as to where you can't hardly see them either.

If they don't ALL have frost on them, then its likely your compressor is going out, and it would cost more to fix it than its worth.

Let me know what you find.

Also take the lower front kickplate grille off and make sure your condenser coils underneath aren't all clogged up either with pet hair/lint/dirt.

Jake
