Default GE Profile Arctica

My GE Profile Arctica PTS25LHSARWW purchased in March 2006, top freezer and bottom fridge, has a problem. The touchpad which controls the freezer and fridge temps are showing 555, 555 respectively. If I press the buttons to make the fridge/freezer cooler, the display reads 666, etc.... I cannot get a temperature reading but the freezer and fridge are maintaining the default temp of 0, 37 degrees (we are using a thermometer). If I drop the temp to show 000, 000 the thing shuts off as it should. I have unplugged for 10 minutes and when I plug it back in, the default 555, 555 shows on the display. I am assuming that this is 0, 37 as it would normally be if the readings were displayed correctly.

A repairman came out and told me I would need two parts, one of which is the motherboard but I do not know what the other part would be. Can you help? If it can be fixed by us, I would like to save some money doing it ourselves. We are also noticing an increase in condensation in the refrigerator as well, but this could be due to the door opening and closing in this warm weather.

Thank you.

Hi,

It sounds like just the motherboard is bad.

Here's the one for your model you can order:
Manufacturer part number WR55X10656 is RepairClinic item number 1266104
WR55X10656

If you purchase parts from our links here and you install them and it doesn't fix the problem, you have a 30 day full refund when you return them.

You would need to pull your refrigerator out from the wall, its #801 here, just take the cover#803 off and you will see it(Unplug your refrigerator first):

Thanks, Jake. We originally thought it was just the motherboard, but then we were told it would need TWO parts and I could not figure out what the other one would be. Total estimate to repair would be a little over $400.00. I will order the motherboard.

Hi Jake:

We replaced the motherboard as you suggested and that did not solve the problem. Do you have any idea what would cause those numbers to continue to appear on the temp controls?

Thanks!

Thats odd, usually the new motherboard fixes it. Its rare for it to be the display board, but thats the only other part that I know of that controls the numbers in the display.

Here's the display board for your model:
Manufacturer part number WR55X10354 is RepairClinic item number 1092857
WR55X10354

You can return the motherboard for a full refund.

Well, Jake, we've replaced the display board but are having the same issues. We believe it may be the touchpad that contains the ribbon cable on the outside of the light assembly as the "warmer" button for the freezer doesn't work. Any idea what that part might be? I couldn't find anything like it at the RepairClinic.

Thanks.

Ok, I found the touchpad assembly, they call it a membrane setpoint control.

Here's the one for your model:
Manufacturer part number WR04X10134 is RepairClinic item number 1476713

Its #625 here:

Thank you, Jake....it's not in stock by you and when I looked elsewhere, because now we can't get the fridge to change temps at all, it seems as if this part is no longer available. If this is the case, what do we do now??
