Default S/S Fridge. Stopped working

Hello,
I have a GE GSS25WGMBB Fridge, Freezer stopped, then a day later fridge got warm also.

I have read some threads. I have the heater and bracket out. I tested it with a volt/ohm meter, I get reading of 21.5. But the glass is really dark. The fan blows when you open the door but just does not cool of freeze.

The fridge is about 8 years old, Do I fix this one, or throw in the towel and get a new one.

Last year was my heating element in my GE oven, 6 months ago was a diaphram in my GE dishwasher, now this.

Your defrost heater reads good.

Sounds like your motherboard is bad.

Was the evaporator coil in the freezer all frosted up? Normal would be just a thin layer of frost on all the coils.

Here's the motherboard for your model:
Manufacturer part number WR55X10942 is RepairClinic item number 1531075
WR55X10942

If you purchase parts from our links here and you install them and it doesn't fix the problem, you have a 30 day full refund when you return them.

You would need to pull your refrigerator out from the wall, its #801 here, just take the cover#843 off and you will see it(Unplug your refrigerator first):

Jake,

My wife says there was no frost in the freezer, by the time I got the cover off, the freezer was room temperature.

I would love to use the link to purchace the motherboard, but there is a Sear parts department close by, but if I buy the part there, no returns allowed.

Is there a way to test the motherboard?

Unfortunately, there is no way to test the motherboard that I'm aware of.

I just know the symptoms of a motherboard failure, and yours fits the symptoms.

And if you read our sticky thread at the top of this forum on the motherboard issue, you will see many members that has had this problem as well, and the motherboard has fixed theirs.

Jake,

Even tho I hate to replace parts without being able to test them first, and since you said if the motherboard did not fix the problem I could return it.

I ordered it from you link, It was cheaper then my local store with O/N shipping.

Just to let you know, It did fix the freezer, and now I got a working fridge again.

Thanks
