Okay guys I found this forum through searches, anyhow my Washing machine stopped spinning and not sure how to fix it.
the model number is whdrr418g1ww I have done a bunch of searches and found that the motor is a common failure point, I pulled the front panel and the motor has an LED on it, I get one single flash so accordign to the datasheet that came with the washer one single flash means that the motor is bad. So I plop down 250 bucks (more than half the price of the washer) and order the part below Partselect.com - GE Appliance Parts And All Brands of Appliance Parts So the part comes in and I replace it, figure its not gonna be an issue and I go to turn it on and still no spin...... I look down at the motor LED and I have the same error that I had before (one single flash) At this point I decided to jump the start safety switch by cutting the wires and splicing them together.. At this point I am still not getting spin and not sure where to check... I know I should just replace the whole washer but I just dropped 250 on the part and would like to fix this one if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Rich |

Hi Rich,
When you order parts through our site here, we offer a 30 day full refund return even if you installed it and it didn't fix it. Here's that motor you installed: Manufacturer part number WH20X10051 is RepairClinic item number 1475785 WH20X10051Sounds like possibly the lid switch: Manufacturer part number WH12X10334 is RepairClinic item number 1256927 WH12X10334Yours is controlled by a magnet on the lid, if you have a magnet laying around somewhere test it with that, if it still doesn't work try to jump that lid switch. Jake

I haven't had a chance to work on this model before that has this new motor design with the control board on it, so I couldn't tell exactly the definite part that would fix it.
But If the lid switch checks good, about the only part left the controls the motor is the timer. Here's the timer for your model: Manufacturer part number WH12X10348 is RepairClinic item number 1264499 WH12X10348Jake

Does the timer control the spin seperate from the fill? Because when the spin and drain cycle is on, the pump turns on but it doesnt spin... I think I am gonna just send the part back and send this machine to the trash can

Yes, the timer does control the spin separate from the fill.
Will Partselect let you return the motor after its already been installed? For a full refund? Jake

A year old? Do you have the receipt when you bought it? Usually you would have a 1 yr. warranty on it from GE.
Even if its just past the 1 yr. warranty, I would fight tooth and nail to still have it covered under the 1 yr. warranty, because this is very abnormal for this issue your having for a 1 yr. old washer. Jake
