Thread: Ice and frost buildup in GE side-by-side

Hi,

I don't imagine model number is needed here

A full model# is always needed!
Where is my model#, I need a part, where should I look for my model number

For some reason, ice and frost build up at the opening at the bottom of the ice tray and into the opening on the door

At the through the door dispensor? ( see how a model# would have helped )
Where exactly is the ice/frost?

To try and be exact, the frost is building up in the opening of the ice maker bucket where the ice drops out of it into the opening on the inside of the freezer door. Thanks.

Make sure the flapper door in the dispensor is closing/closing properly. Try a flash light to see if there is any opening/leaks allowing room air and freezer temp air to pass back and forth....

Yes, you are correct, the flapper is not closing completely. I may need to take the door apart to find our why or cover the opening somehow (tape?) on the inside of the door. Any suggestions why it may not be closing? Thanks again.

Broken plastic piece, bad solenoid, wet/frozen insulation....
