[FIXED] GE Profile Ice Maker Issues
Brand:
GE
Age:
More than 10 years
I turned off the water to my ice maker 3 years ago because it was leaking and replaced it with an external counter top ice maker. Now the counter top ice maker is broken and I'm back to trying to fix the ice maker in my GE Profile refrigerator.
I checked the water line and discovered there was a kink in the hose from the solenoid to the freezer. I removed the kink and magically it started to make ice. It made one batch of normal sized cubes, followed by very small cubes, then it stopped making cubes entirely.
I took off the cover to the ice make and adjusted the water level and for the next cycle it made normal size cubes, but they were not fully frozen. The next time the ice maker filled with water, it overflowed. I assumed I set the water level too high and adjusted it back down.
I'm back to getting no ice at all again.
Do I just need to continue to adjust the water level or is it time for me to give up and purchase a replacement ice maker.

Hi Jake... I received the replacement ice maker today and installed it. It looks like the mechanism is functioning properly, but it is not filling with water. I installed it about 5 hours ago. Any suggestions?

Check your fill tube where it goes into your ice maker to make sure it didn't clog with ice.

Checked the fill tube and there was no ice clog. I unplugged the fridge, removed the new ice maker and double checked that everything was installed correctly. Unfortunately, still no water from the fill tube. Should I check the solenoid next?

Looks like the solenoid is not delivering water to the ice maker. I disconnected the tube from the solenoid that feeds the ice maker, drained it, and waited for the ice maker to cycle. The tube never refilled. I've order the replacement solenoid and will let you know if that resolves the issue once it arrives and is installed.

Ok, yes you mentioned earlier you were getting water thats why I didnt have you check the valve first.
