GE Ice maker stopped working
My GE icemaker stopped working, looking at the site (very helpful and lot's of good info!) I have a "new ge elecrtonic style" ice maker.
Water still dispenses. The aurger still moves when you call for ice. The paddle moves freely. The green light is on and is solid. Turning the icemaker on and off doesn't seem to do anything and I don't hear the icemaker make any noise when moving the arm or turning it on and off.
Lastly, If I feel "inside" the icemaker there is partially formed ice in place.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,
Are all the ice cube slots full of ice? Partially formed? You mean hollow ice cubes?

Jake,
It looks like partially formed, I don't think they are hollow.
Thanks,
Jason

Its either your water inlet valve or your water supply line thats causing this.
I'd first check your water supply line first.
First Pull your refrigerator out away from the wall, turn off your water supply line that goes to it, then take off your water supply line from the water inlet valve, then get a bucket, cup, bowl, etc to catch the water, then put your water supply line in the bucket and turn it on, your water stream should be really good with good water pressure, if not then the problem is in your plumbing water supply line.
Let us know how the water pressure is.
A very LARGE problem in the last few years has been the self piercing shut off valve clogging up with calcium and junk! Replace the self piercing shut off valve with a drill type shut off valve. You drill a 1/4" hole into the pipe and install the shut off valve the same way you would with a self piercing valve.
If your water pressure is fine, then its your water inlet valve thats bad.
Here is your water valve in case you need to order it:

Thanks Jake. Just based on the water pressure when filling up a glass at the door, I believe water pressure isn't an issue.
I took a picture of the partially formed ice, if that tells you anything else, otherwise I'll order the the valve.
Thanks for you help.

Yes Jason, then it sounds like the water inlet valve is the issue then.

Jake,
Before I ordered the water inlet valve, I tried switching the wires from the drinking water solenoid to the ice maker soenoid on the inlet valve. I then had my wife push in the paddle on the front of the freezer door to call for water.
The ice maker solenoid seemed to fire just fine. I switched back and forth between both solenoids a few times and both seemed to work fine.
Could there be another source of the problem?
Thanks,
Jason

Not that I'm aware of Jason, so now its working fine without the new water inlet valve installed?

No, it's still not making ice. I tested the old one as described and it appeared to be working so I was just wondering if it could be something else.

Thats very odd Jason, I'm stumped, don't know what else it could be.
You'll likely need to have GE come out and see whats going on.
