GE JBP30W Oven won't turn off
Brand:
GE
Age:
6-10 years
I have a GE JBP30W0B2WW that the lower heating element will not turn off unless we turn off the breaker. The oven was being cleaned when this started (but we'd not yet turned on the actual cleaning cycle). About a year ago, the bottom element failed by arcing to the oven floor, and was replaced. To troubleshoot this issue, I disconnected the element to visually check it for a similar failure, and found the element looks fine. The .5" of accessible wiring also looks fine.
Any suggestions for other things to try to troubleshoot? Is there a repair manual available for this oven online?
Thank you!
Andrew

It sounds like the control board is going to be the problem. Nothing come up with that model number unless I leave out the "0". Could you re-check that please.

Yes Rick, on some GE models you have to remove the "0".
I agree with Rick.
A new clock oven control assembly should fix it.
Here's the clock oven control assembly for your model you can order here:

Thank you both! That "0" has been killing me in searching for parts. The oven clearly has a label with a "0" in the middle of the part number.

I didn't know GE had models where you had to remove the 0. I know they do that to their part numbers quite often where a WR09X won't come up but a WR9X will. See, you can still teach an old dog new tricks...lol.

Just wanted to follow up and thank both of you. Replaced the control board and it's working just fine. One thing to note, which I wish I had know while I was ordering the control board: the printed overlay is glued to the original control board. While it did pull off the original board, it also took some of the ink off with it, making it look awful. Need to make a second order now for the overlay. For anyone else that reads this, just order the overlay with the control board to save yourself on shipping costs.
Also to note, the control boards have changed a bit from the original factory installed board, meaning you can't just match up the wiring. AppliancePartsPros, as linked above, included a new wiring diagram in the box. Replacement was fairly easy.
Thanks again for the help!
