Default Burners and Broiler ignite, Oven will not

    Model Number: JGB290MEN2BS
    Brand: GE
    Age: 1-5 years

Recently I tried to turn on my oven and it never ignited. The burners and the broiler still work though. Thinking it might be something with the electrical ignitor but I'm not sure. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    Hi,

Do you notice when you first turn it on bake that the bake igniter glows orange at all from the bottom of your oven? and just doesn't let the gas out to ignite it?

If so, then its definitely your oven igniter thats bad.

Here is the bake igniter glow bar for your model:

Hi Jake, thanks for the reply. When I turn the oven on bake I don't see any orange glow at all in the bottom of the oven and I don't smell any gas.

    Ok,

The way I test it is put my volt meter leads in that connector that goes to your oven igniter glow bar, when the oven is on you should get 120 volts on the volt meter. If you do and the igniter glow bar isn't coming on, then you have a bad oven igniter glow bar.

If you don't have a volt meter, you can get a cheap one at Radio Shack.

To get access to the oven igniter glow bar electrical connector, I take out the bottom storage drawer completely then get a flashlight or floodlight to see under there, and then I can see the oven igniter glow bar connector.

Thanks for the reply and for the info Jake. I'll have to get a volt meter and check it out. Turns out I was wrong about the broiler though. It glows orange up at the top of the oven but no gas comes out and it doesn't light either. Could this also be due to the oven ignitor glow bar or is this a different issue?

    Sounds like a different issue.

Do the voltage check on the lower igniter first.

Hey Jake, been traveling a lot for work but finally got around to testing the ignitor. When I tested it there was nothing coming at all coming to the ignitor. The broiler does work though, not sure what was going on there. Talked to someone from the gas company and he said thinks it may be a blown fuse?

If no 120 volts, then here's the clock oven control board for your model you can order here:

So you think that's what the problem could be? Even though the broiler still works?

Yup, because the bake uses its own circuit on that board.
