    Default GE Washer overflowing. New belt issue?

    Model Number: WLSR3000G0WW
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

    I just changed the motor and belt in my GE WLSR3000G0WW washer.
    It was an extremely difficult belt to put on because there's no adjustment built into the motor mounts. In fact, the belt barely fit on the tub pulley, though it was the same number as the old belt.
    Now the washer is squealing in the agitation cycle, and also pushing water through the overflow tube at the same time.
    Is it because the belt is too tight? and if so, will it loosen up?
