Default GE GSD3200G00WW Dishwasher Water leak - from botom of the dishwasher

    Model Number: SD3200G00WW
    Brand: GE
    Age: More than 10 years

    Dear Expert,
I have a GE GSD3200G00WW Dishwasher that's leaking water from botom of the dishwasher to the floor in front of the dishwasher. What procedure should I go through to find out and repair the leak?

    Thanks.
    Amituofo...

    Hi,

Grab a flash light. Load the d/w. Lay on the floor ( no pillows! ). Remove the access panals. Run a load with the access off and the flash light on....have a peek to see if you can ID what/where the leak is coming from. Sometimes a leak will leave a white mark ( just in case it doesn't leak when you are inspecting it ) from the soap/water.

I found the leak. See picture below. It leak where the red dot is, behind the spring where there's a screw. It only leaks when the plunger marked in blue is plunged into the black cylinder thing below it. How do I proceed?

    Hi Jeff,
Is it the Drain Shaft Seal? I found online. See below. It seems like my problem. How do I make sure this is truly the problem and the only problem? As I don't want to get the part and ended up not fixing it. Thanks.

"Sometimes the seal will go bad and cause your GE dishwasher pump to leak. If water leaks around the drain solenoid during a drain cycle, the seal is bad. The part number for this seal is WD8X181 and you will also need a push nut because you will destroy the old one getting it off, the part number for the push nut is WR2X7054

hm....what success rate would you say trying seal and nut? 50%? or less? I am wondering if it is worth the money and my time to try to replace the seal and nut...

Is the body or shaft worn visible that I can check?

    So far, 80% reoccur....about 20% stay ok.

It is cheap enough to take a shot.

I replaced the seal...It's still leaking from the same spot. However, the leak now is much smaller.

I am going to replace the whole thing. How reliable is Kenmore? I found one used one Model is 665.17032403. 6 years old.

    Thanks.
