Question Dryer burner wont stay on long enough to dry clothes

Hotpoint older gas dryer. Just got a older hotpoint dryer from a friend, newer but identical to the old one I have. He said it worked fine. When we move it , whoever changed a belt for him didnt put back the mounting screws for anthing holding the dryer together. I got it home put it back together. It runs, the Igniter glows, and the flame ignites but stays on for only about 20 seconds when it cycles on ,and off. I ran a load of clothes in it for an hour and the dryer isnt even barely warm inside of it. It seems the burner is turning the heat off to soon!

Some thing must of gotten messed up during moving it. Any suggestion to what I should check, and what may be causing the problem?

    Hi,

First try pulling it away from the wall, then disconnect the vent exhaust, and let the air/heat blow into the open room that its in freely.

If the gas flame stays on a long time, then you have a vent problem/restriction.

I tried that when I first installed it. It ran fine, the gas burner stays on for about 2 minutes like the trouble shooting chart says. It then cycles on and of but only stays on for about 30-40 seconds heating. I removed the hose, and cleaned out any dust and lint that was in it. It burned a little longer, but it still doesnt seem to run long enough to really heat up the drum. I only had a few clothes in it that I had wet down. Im going to try running a regular sized load of clothes and see how it dries.

I appreciate your help. Gonna see how long and how well it dries a regular load, and take it from there. See ya later !!

Ok, yes, try it will a full load, if its still not heating properly, you will need new gas coils on your dryer gas valve.

If you post the model# I can look those up for you.

Jake, I tried drying a normal load of clothes ,and it took a lot longer than usual to dry them. Is there a way to test he coils with a VOM. I have the other dryer that should have the same coils. I'd like to test them to see if I could replace the coils in this one, with the ones from the other one , if I can test them first.
