GE Fridge Model # GSS25XSNABS Mfg 1/30/03
Noticed this morning that items on upper level of freezer not frozen and also noticed that I didn't hear the fan that normally blows and shuts off as you open or shut the doors. After reading on this site, I unloaded freezer, unplugged and began to take the freezer apart. Removed back panel, found lower coils frozen, removed light cover, icemaker and finally got to the evaporator fan. It was not spinning. Defrosted with hairdryer, plugged back in but evaporator fan doesn't come on. Noticed when taking the evaporator fan out that it has a sensor that attached to condensor coil. Question, what triggers the fan to come on, how can I test to see if the fan is bad. Does the fan motor generally fail or is it related to the sensor. Part number on the fan is WR60X10043. With refrig plug back in frost is developing on the condensor coils, is that because the fan is not running or is something wrong with the defrost cycle? Thanks for your help. Replaced main control board and evaporator fan motor, put everything back together, evaporator fan works great, now all I get is crushed ice and water. Will not switch to cubed.
Is it a control board issue or did I possibly not hook something backup right. Thanks |

First take out your ice bucket and move that metal arm up and down, it may be an ice clog in the blades, then move that piece that the metal arm goes into inside your freezer, move that up and down, it move freely.
