    Default Need help.

I have the same problem with GE side-by-side motherboard that everyone has reported here. I called GE and they said they only have dishwashers and microwaves on recall. They said I had to find the model number on the recall list on their website but I could not find it on the safety recall list, as expected. My model number is GSS25IFRCC. Can someone please tell me where is the list containing model numbers that fall under this free replacement and how do I convey this to GE??

    Thanks.

    Hi,

You have to call GE costomer relations at 800-386-1215 and go through the various menus until you get to a representative. If your Refridge was manufactured between May 2005 and August 2006 it is in this program. Here is the text of the recall incase they give you the run around.

"""""GE Refrigerators, if the main circuit board fails, GE Consumer & Industrial will replace

this part free of charge to the consumer until further notice.
    [ Refrigeration| General Electric]
    Summary:

November 7, 2006, Models Covered: see attachment The models affected are side-by-side

plastic liner, side-by-side metal liner, bottom freezer two door and bottom freezer French

door. The models were produced between May 2005 and August 2006 (HH – RL serial range) and

are included in this program. See enclosed list. Potential Additional Covered Parts:

Specific parts involving the failure of the main board are included in this program. These

parts are limited to the following: -Evaporator Fan failure, only if accompanied by a Main

Board failure -Dispenser Board failure, only if accompanied by a Main Board failure.

Thanks, Jake for the quick response. I had read that text previously so when I called and read GE the text, they said it had to come from their website and I just couldn't find it on their website. My serial number is RH so I wasn't sure that qualified as being in the HH-RL serial range, but I thought it did. They have set me up an appointment for next week which is a $79 trip charge no matter what. They couldn't say for sure if the parts and labor would be free but said they probably would be. I told them to call before they made the trip and if they couldn't tell me by then if the replacement was going to be free for sure, I would cancel. Any suggestions?

By the way, I noticed how helpful you have been to everyone on here and I appreciate the attention and assistance you have provided.

Your serial#RH is in between HH-RL, so it should be covered.

First of all, this looks like a really helpful and informative forum. I believe I am having the same problem described here, basically, no water or ice dispensed, and when the buttons are pushed for either, the entire refrigerator seems to shut down, or at least definitely the display goes blank. I called GE and asked them about the "recall". The rather rude woman I talked to said I would be charged at least $100, because my purchase is over three years old. I asked her why I never received the letter even though I registered the appliance...of course no answer there. Has anyone else been told of this $100 charge?

I'd almost rather just fix it myself than deal with GE Service, so I've got 2 questions. My model # is ZFSB26DRS, which is the Monogram series. First, what is the correct part number for the main control board for this model? Secondly, is there any way to verify that the main control board is the issue, and not the dispenser control board?

    Thanks.

Yes, I'll guarantee you that a new motherboard will fix yours too.

Don't call GE out to change it, its very easy to do yourself.

Here's the motherboard for your model you can order:
Manufacturer part number WR55X10942 is RepairClinic item number 1531075
    WR55X10942

Its in the back of your refrigerator, pull your refrigerator out from the wall, then take off the motherboard cover#803 here, then your motherboard is #801, Unplug your refrigerator first:

We have a special program here, all parts you order from our links we post are returnable within 30 days for a FULL refund if they don't fix the problem.

I'm having a similar issue with my fridge. I got it with my house late in 2004 so it definitely was not made in 2005 to qualify for the "recall" . The serial also starts with TG which is outside the range noted.

I need to make sure the issue is this board before doing anything.

The problem started a few days ago when i heard intermittent clicking coming from the fridge. It would happen for 5-10 minutes and then go away for an hour or so. The ice dispensor on the door stopped working (i never use the water one so i don't know about it). Occasionally I could get the dispensor to work but only for a short period of time. Usually when i tried it the clicking started shortly afterwards. I decided to stop using the dispensor completely. It still made ice so I just opened the door to get it myself.

After I stopped using he door dispensor it seemed the clicking stopped. The next morning i opened the fridge and noticed the temp readouts were rather high (-29 and 48). I can't remember what i did (probably something with the ice dispensor) but the temps did come back down to normal and i had no more problems that day.

This morning i get up and see no temps displayed and a flashing "HRS". I tried unplugging it for about 1/2 hour but that didn't help.

Model is psc23ngpb bb, serial starts with TG.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    thank you
