Hi all. I have a question regarding my GE Profile dryer. It's about 3 years old and it just hums; hasn't been drying well for some time. Had a tech come out and tell me the "motor" is bad. Called GE and they said that if it's the "control Board" then it's under warranty... at the risk of sounding dumb, is the "Motor" part of the "control board" that is warrantied? This may be a dumb question, but I am clueless... Could use any help before I have the GE tech come out for $70 more bucks. thank u. thank u. thank u.

Whats the model# of your dryer? its located inside the door.

No, the motor isn't part of the Control Board.

To test the motor(no clothes in it), have someone push the start button, while you hold the door switch and turn the drum and see if that jump starts it to turn normally, try turning the drum both ways when someone pushes the start button, if it runs good, then you have a bad motor.
