Default Freezer Door Switch - GE Profile Arctica

    Hi all,

I will be installing the service kit to prevent my food from freezing in the bins as so many of you have posted about, but I have another problem that I think is unrelated.

    I have a Profile Arctica, Model PSS25MGMAWW.

I have to press VERY hard on the freezer door to get the ice dispenser to dispense ice. This led me to believe that the light switch was faulty. However, If I open the freezer door, and manually press the light switch, it works fine.

The water dispenser and night light work fine without pushing on the freeezer door. Its just the ice maker thats doing it. Im afraid I am ruining the freezer door gasket by compressing it so much every time i want ice.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

Make sure the door is closing good, Items in the freezer door that stick out too far, or items that are on the freezer shelves could be hitting the door, causing it not to close tightly.

Well I emptied the freezer, and still the same problem. Can you think of anything else I might try?

Try taking out the ice bucket, then try the ice dispenser, other than that it would be hard to say without looking at it myself.

    Jake,

After looking closer, one of the freezer bins (which is just a bit too narrow to properly lay in its sliding tracks) was affecting the door. After putting that in its place, the ice dispenser is working (not perfectly, but acceptably) well.

Thank you very much for your advice. It is much appreciated.

Glad you found out what was causing it.

    Thanks for the update!
