Default Fisher-Paykel dishwasher......

Hi all....I have a friend that asked me today if I could look at their D/W..It"s making a grinding noise and there was some broken glass in the bottom..I suspect some glass got into the pump but have not worked on these Fisher-Paykels before...Any ideas or should I just dig in??? Thnx, Jim..

Hi Jim,

I've never worked on the Fisher-Paykel dishwasher either. Wish I could help you out.

Lift the rack out, take the wash arm off, and you will be looking at the top of the motor. There is a outer ring that you rotate and the entire filter assembly will lift off. The motor has another ring holding it in place that once its turned, the entire motor comes out. Watch how it came out and look for broken glass or whatever in with the motor impeller. No tools required.

Wow i'm surprised that Jake hasn't worked on a Fisher and Paykel!

They are quite popular in the wealthier areas of San Diego.

Like technician Brian said, clean out the impeller and you're done.

The most common problem on Fisher and Paykel is lower kid actuators. People will overload the F&P, then water splashes out and ruins the lid kit actuator.

It's a lot of fun to call New Zealand to order parts. Their accent absolutely kills me!

I cleaned out a little speck of glass from the pump impeller area and it is running with normal noise now...Started a cycle and let it run while we went away for a while..Came back 3 hours later and it is still running...Water is hot..Tried to pump out the water by pushing in the power button but it did not drain..I told them to unplug it for a while and see if it will work right as we pushed and held in all the buttons....I see why Jake dosen"t work on these..

Yea, its like a mechanic working on domestic auto's for 20 years, then switching to imports without the proper training and saying What the F--- is this, lol.

I'm sure with the proper training and working on these day in and day out, it would come natural to fix these easily.

You are absolutely right Jake..The proper training is what it is all about..The applince repair business is not what it used to be..Hard to keep up with all the changes...Jim.
