Default Maytag- IS YOUR MAYTAG GENUINE?

My wife and I were shopping for a new appliance recently.
We told the salesperson not to show us a Maytag.

Our new Maytag washer and Dryer was not up to speed as with our prior use.
Price was never an issue. We wanted quality.

When the salesperson at a major upbeat appliance store asked if our Maytag had a raised seal or emblem, we questioned why?

He told us that unless it had a raised seal or emblem other than just the wording "Maytag"... it was not a genuine Maytag. He said it was a Amana!

We were shocked to learn that we had been a victum of fraud by a
a major appliance maker.

I guess a blind person who could read brail had a better chance of getting what he wanted.

The Salesperson said..." I would have told you and apologized for his fellow employee's failure to inform.

I am really mad about this and just wonder if others know this corporate secret. Better yet, Can anyone convince me that my salesman lied. If so I will then offer my apology to Maytag!

Well....this is one I hadn't heard of before. There is, however, a grain of truth to it.

Back in 2001 or thereabouts, Maytag bought Amana. So far as I am aware, the Amana design of laundry products is no longer manufactured (Yippee!!!). Maytag itself is currently the subject of a takeover bid from Whirlpool.

Maytag is no longer the quality product you no doubt remember.
