    Default Kenmore Compactor Question

My Kenmore Compactor (model 665.13619101) has decided to go on strike. When you turn the starter switch, it makes an obscenely loud sound as if the motor were in overdrive. The ram doesn't move. In fact the top of the trash bin itself makes contact with the bottom of the ram. This makes it drag when it is opened.

I've taken it apart as far as I dare without direction. The chain is in place, both gears seem to have all of their teeth. Aside from a few pieces of trash inside the chassis, nothing outwardly presented itself as an issue.

I must say that it does have one redeeming value in its current behavior. When someone turns the switch, it clears the kitchen of kids and dogs. I'm tempted I'll leave it like that.

    Any direction is most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Hi Brian,

I don't work on Trash compactors, but I asked another tech. at another forum and I'll give you the link to what he said, and you can register there for free if you want to post back:

Since I don't work on trash compactors I can refund your $5 Membership fee if you want, and still give you a Lifetime Membership here in case you have other products I work on.
