Default autoflo su-20 steam humidifier help?

I have an autoflo su-20 steam humidifier in my home. It was not hooked up when we moved in so I wire it up. I just did it wrong as shorted it out. Best I can tell the transformer is dead. I replaced it with a 240v 24v transformer but it didn't work. I think it needs something I am missing maybe? I cannot find a sutible replacement. It is a
Honeywell AT20 C 1154
24v Nema Type B
240v 50/60HZ 19Va
Primarty Blk & Org
Nec class 2 Not Wet
Class 3 wet trans
On the top it say 9212
97-1675 revD

The base is about 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" 4 bolts and it is about 2 3/4" high. Space is a big issues as there is no room in the enclosure.

so you are saying use a at120A?

I was showing a universal multi-tap replacement, and match the Volt-Amp or VA rating of the one you have. Also shows proper wiring.

Does it matter if the VA is greater? say I use a 60va when the stock was 19?

That is not necessary. AT120A should surfice.

well I picked up a universal 40va unit at grainger. Plugged it in and 10 mins it blew. Somthing is shorting out the trasformer as all I did was jut the humidstat terminals to get it started. I am at wits end with ths pos!!
