Default Dehumidifer Stops Running

I have a Goldstar dehumidifier (model #GHD30, mfr'ed by LG) that ran perfectly all last summer and several prior. This season I plugged it in as the basement is starting to get damp with the warmer weather approaching and found that it would run for about 2 minutes and then shut down. It would not restart unless I dialed down the adjustment knob all the way to 1 and turn it back up or just unplug the unit. I do woodworking in the basement so thought dust could be a factor. I opened up the box, cleaned the coils, filter and sensor and tried again. It ran for 5 minutes this time but again would not restart on its own. I suspect something on the unit is faulty but am hesitant to arbitrarily start rebuilding the unit. My first thought is the sensor is faulty but it could also be the circuit board or maybe even the compressor. Thoughts on where to begin anyone?

Replace the starting components (relay, overload) on the compressor.

Thanks Icehouse. I am not seeing anything listed as such on any of the spare parts websites? Would it be called something else?

Overload is on top of the compressor. Unit does not use a relay.
