Red face Kitchenaid KSRP25 ice maker

The ice maker was not filling w/water. We have performed the following:
1.) LED lights flashing twice when open; steady with flapper door closed.
2.) Checked tubing to ice maker. Appears clear (no water or ice in tube)
3.) Jumpered the ice maker per page 5-5 of the whirlpool job aid 4322658A but could not see that step 9 was working. The ejector bar was not moving when I reopened the freezer.

Also water was not filling the ice tray with the jumper cable in, so I assume either the thermostat is bad or the valve that releases the water is bad. Are there other tests to confirm that the valve (or solenoid) are operating?

Should I order new parts and see if any work?

If the valve is bad, is there any literature as to how to replace? I could not see anything on the whirlpool job aid mentioned above. Thanks

Hi,

Please post the complete model#, the model# tag is located inside the refrigerator section on the right side upper wall.

You can jump the L & V on the module and that will send 120 volts to your water inlet valve and see if water comes out from your black rubber fill tube above your ice maker.

Thanks, were you about to jump L & V at your ice maker module to see if the water started coming out of your black rubber fill tube above your ice maker?

If you want to test the water inlet valve alone, You can buy a test cord here:
Test Cord - 110 Volt With Alligator Clips

The L&V test was successful. The unit filled w/water and the blades started to move.

Sound like we need to replace the module, correct?

Is that a difficult process? We're new at this do it yourself stuff!!

Yes, it sounds like your ice maker module is bad.

You can order the module itself or the complete ice maker assembly.

Here's the ice maker module kit for your model you can order:
Manufacturer's Number: 8201515

Here's the complete ice maker assembly for your model:
Complete icemaker assembly

Here's the instructions TO change the ice maker assembly:

1. Remove the bucket from the door to get some room.

2. Put a piece of tape on the sensor flapper to hold it down so you won't damage it while removing the ice maker.

3. Remove the ice maker service cover door by spreading the two hinge fingers apart away from the center and the door should lift out of the slot.

4. Remove the screw in the right rear bottom side of the ice maker.

5. After removing the screw that cover should lift up from the rear and just work it out from the rear and you see the electrical harness.

6. On the left track the should be a tab toward the bottom which you need to push up.

7. Push up tab and start working the ice maker towards you pulling it out of the track.

8. Careful with the electrical harness in the back as you're pulling out.

9. Disconnect the electrical plug by lifting the clip on the plug.

10. Remove the side cover on the side module by pulling off.

11. Remove the bottom shield by removing the 3 screws on the bottom.

12. To install reverse the order as it came out.
