Default Problem with lockout - Kitchenaid .....

model # KSCS25FTMS02. This morning we awoke to find that our "just over" 1 year old refrigerator's display had gone dark. It shows "HOL" in the left field and the "lockout" symbol on the right side. Touching any of the 4 buttons by themselves or in combination doesn't do anything. So, the ice won't dispense and the water will not come out. The icemaker appears to still be making ice.

The filter had gone down to 4%, so we changed it out for a new one. No effect on the lockout.

We thought the "HOL" might mean Holiday mode, but hitting that button inside the regrigerator display area only turns the lights off.

I called Kitchenaid and didn't get anywhere. Has anyone experienced this, and what can be done short of calling out the repair guy??

Thanks for your response !!

Did you try unplugging it? Give that a shot first.

Yes. Tried unplugging it and when I plugged it back in - no change.

If anyone has an idea, I'm all ears......

Hi,

The the owners manual for your model:
http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/asse...W10162436A.pdf

Press and hold LOCKOUT for 3 seconds to lock the
dispenser. While the dispenser is locking, “LOCKING” will
appear on the display screen and the blue indicator light
around the LOCKOUT button will flash. When the dispenser is
locked, the indicator light will change to red for a few
seconds, then turn off.

Press and hold LOCKOUT a second time to unlock the
dispenser. While the dispenser is unlocking, “UNLOCKING”
will appear on the display screen and the red indicator light
around the LOCKOUT button will flash. When the dispenser is
unlocked, the indicator light will change to blue for a few
seconds, then turn off.

Try that.

Jake

Default Great news gentlemen!! My 12 y.o. son.......

came to the rescue! He was fiddling around with the 4 controls. I had been trying to push 2 of them at a time, hoping some combination would un-freeze the display. He pushed all 4 buttons @ the same time, and presto!!

Maybe the children will lead us .........

All systems normal now. Thanks Jake & Liberator!

Basically the same for me. Dad had just passed and the window unit we had died.
Mom called a service company and they came with no tools. Told her it was a compressor.
Went to the library and to out a book called "Repair Master for Window Air Conditioners".
Turned out to be a bad capacitor, and now 47 years later I'm still servicing.

Yup, it goes to show that when you put your mind to something you can do it.
