Default [FIXED] KGSA906 door won't unlock, door is open

The electic door lock locked while the door was open during the initial part of the self clean function. THe lock will not release and the door can't be closed all the way. I have turned off the breaker for 5 min to try and reset. No luck. Unlike other posters, the electric control pad works and the thing isn't "dead" What can I do?

Edit. the stove never got hot.

Hi,

Please post the complete model# of your range. There should be 3 more letters and 2 more numbers after the "6" at the end of your model#. The model# tag should be located on the very bottom frame after you pull out your storage drawer.

You'll likely need to pull your range out from the wall, Turn the breaker off to it first, then take the back panel off, then you will see your lock motor and a bar that connects to it. You'll likely need a new lock motor assembly, I've replaced a number of these on this brand myself for this same issue.

I will give you the part# once I have your full model#.

The complete model # is kgsa906pss00.

Is there no way to reset this? Do these motors just go bad after only one use? Sounds like crappy craftmanship.

Default Fixed it

the door lock had not finished going through its cycle when I opened the door (obvioiusly). SO when I tried closing it, the computer knew the door wasnt closed all the way so it kinda stalled. WHat I did was turn the auto clean function on with the door open, hit start and then moved the locking mechanism on the front of the oven with my hand till the light went out. I guess that tricked the oven into thinking the door was closed. then it continued with the locking cycle and fired up the oven. I then hit off to stop the cleaning cycle while holding the latch mechanism with my hand. After the stove went throught the "cooling cycle" I felt the locking mechanism move to the right and viola, the thing closed. No need for new parts here.

Excellent, good job fixing it.

Here's the door lock/latch assembly for your model, in case it keeps happening:
