Hi!
You seem very knowledgable so I joined to ask you this question. I have been fighting with a fridgidare superba ice maker and water dispenser off and on over the last 6 months. Several times they quit working and came back on with unclogging the ice and keeping the filter up to date. Never did figure out why the water quit.

The latest issue was that they both quit and the water came back and not the ice. I did everything including pulling out the fridge and unplugging it as I had water under the fridge and wondered where it was from and if the water line to the ice maker had frozen. I think the water was maybe dribbling from the top input to the ice maker, not the lower one into the door water dispenser. Also, the light for the ice maker is blinking 2 pulses.

As it had been not making ice for a week, my elderly mom called a repair man who first said our problem was the water was turned off. No kidding, I did that cuz it was leaking into the basement, and then he just looked in the freezer and said "bad optics, you need a new ice maker." 3days later I unplugged it for an hour and moved all food away from the ice maker. Then 2 days after that, the ice maker started to work and the container is full of ice! The light is still blinking two pulses and the swith was turned to "OFF" and there still seems to be a bit of water under the fridge though not way at the back in a small puddle like before. Its more like under it and less water. Where was it coming from? Was the line frozen inside the refridgerator and it melted? I would gently jiggle the input line at the top back of the fridge and water would dribble when it quit making ice.

I had found a paper on the back of the fridge that said if the light is blinking 2 times the flapper door might be blocking the emitter beam or the optics are faulty and you're supposed to pull out the ice maker and connect this "T" to "H" to bypass the bimetal and see if it starts a cycle, if not, etc. and this guy never pulled out anything, he just looked at it and closed the door and said bad optics we need a new ice maker. What are optics and why is the ice maker working again and why do the water and ice occaisionally quit? The light is still blinking 2 pulses? What should I do? Should I attempt this test? Is this problem common? Im not sure I could accurately follow these directions because I dont know the parts it refers to. HELP!
