Default [FIXED] KUDP02CRBL2 clean light and sanitized lights flash

Hello all, I believe I have a bad heating element and was looking for some help. My issue is our dishwasher will run then stop and the clean light will flash 7 times. So I followed the earlier post and ran the diag, which I believe is also verifing a bad heating element. As a final test, after the diag I set the washer to go again and set the sanitize cycle. After it completed the clean light was on but the sanitized light just flashes. We also notice our dishes aren't as clean and not dry even using the heated dry cycle. Is there anything else this could be? If it is the heating element, where can I get the service manual and part to fix this?? Thanks all for your help!!

Tony

Hi Tony,

Then its possibly a bad heating element.

Here's the repair manual for your model:
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/52521bdbd0ef763c85256cbc00520548/$FILE/8178022.pdf

You would need to ohm your heating element for continuity, a good element should show 30 ohms or less.

Make sure the breaker is off to your dishwasher first. Its likely the electrical terminals are in the very back, so you'll likely need to pull your dishwasher out to ohm the heating element. Take the heating element wires off first before testing the element for continuity.

But first feel your heating element all around inside your dishwasher, if you feel bumps on it or pits in it, its definitely your element thats bad.

Here's the heating element for your model in case you need to order it:
Manufacturer part number 8537057 is RepairClinic item number 1164450

Jake thanks for the info, I didn't feel anything on the heating element, but I can't imagine what else it could be. We did also notice that our rinse agent doesn't seem to be dispensing either. Don't know if that is all the same issue or a separate one.

Thanks,

Well did you notice the rinse dispenser stopped dispensing at the same time the 7 clean light blinks happened? If so, then its not a separate problem.

Good point, let me ask the question a different way, in your experience, is there a reason the rinse agent dispenser would be affected by a heating problem??

Second question, I received my heating element, in earlier posts I thought I saw something about replacing it and a control board?? Should I have ordered that too??

Thanks again for your help!!

No, thats highly unlikely.

No, on some models when you order the heating element the control board comes with it, but not on this model.

Install the element and it should work fine.

So got the heating element replaced, works perfectly now, thanks for all your help. I was quite shocked when I went to take out the old one, I now know why it didn't work anymore, check out the picture of the two plastic nuts that hold it down....
