Default KEBS277BAL1 Quit Working

Hi

I have a KEBS277BAL1 double oven that was installed new 8-10 years ago. A few years ago after doing a self cleaning it started to act up and both oven lights quit working. We sometimes would get an F1 error code (mostly on the upper oven) or a "Prob" message even though we do not have and have never used the temperature probe. Every time we opened the upper oven we got a temperature probe symbol on the screen. Trying repeatedly would get it to work.

Yesterday both ovens quit working. I recycled the circuit breaker and the error message reset but when I tried to start it it shows it is working for a couple of seconds then beeps and shows the same two errors.

This sounds like an electronic control board problem. Is there any way to check and if it is how hard is it to replace? I have done a parts search and it seems the term being used is microcomputer. Is that the same part as an electronic control board? Thanks.

Yes, you would need a new microcomputer, thats the same as the electronic control board.

But its on back-order, so it may take 7-10 days to ship.

You may need to pull your double oven out from the wall a little to access the control panel screws to get inside your control panel were its mounted.

Always turn off your breaker first before opening it up!

Here's the one for your model:
Manufacturer part number 3181705 is RepairClinic item number 501467

Thanks for the quick reply. My oven protrudes about two and a half inches from the cabinet it is installed in giving me access to two screws at the top. Are these the ones I need to get to the board? My oven was a floor model and came without the user guide so I also need to find some guide with an illustration of the disassembly. The expanded parts diagram leads me to believe this should be a fairly straight forward process but from experience I know missing a clip that has to be removed or similar can really bog you down. I suppose waiting for 2-4 weeks will definitely give me enough time to disassemble it! Thanks Again.

Now on some models there are hidden screws below the control panel, open your oven door to see if there's two screws on each side of the oven frame to take out, if so remove the two trims, then there would be a screw under the control panel on each side that you would be able to clearly see. That should be all that holds the control panel in place.

I'm still waiting on the part. I'll hopefully be able to report soon.

Well after 22 days waiting on the part and 2 separate phone calls where I was told the part had shipped from the factory guess what? On my third call they discovered that the part had NOT been shipped and they had no idea when they MIGHT receive it "maybe 4-6 weeks".

I canceled my order and found the part at another online seller and they shipped it the same day.

I am now home and ready to swap the part out and have a couple of questions. I removed the 2 screws on top holding the trim piece in and the whole assembly comes forward a couple of inches. Apparently it wont move any further because at the bottom of the piece it is being held in by the upper oven latch that you use when you want to self clean the oven.

Is there an easy way to release the lever? Thanks.

Sorry about the parts trouble, can you tell us where the parts were in stock at so others don't go through the same problem?

Look at #8 here, thats your latch knob, underneath it is a screw that you remove to get that off:
