Opps, mean to say Ice Dispenser NOT working.

When hurricane Ike hit our electric went on/off about 4 times within about 3hrs. I could not reach the electric plug to unplug it and once the electric came back on the ice dispenser no longer works.

It makes 'whirring' sound when I press the lever, but nothing electrical sounding. The auger does not turn, but the water dispenser works just fine, and I've replaced the water filter.

I have some parts left over from the original door, that was replaced under warranty and was wondering if anyone can help me determine the cause of the problem and how to resolve it. I can't even figure out how to remove the face plate to get to the electronics.

I've even taken the ice bin out of the freezer and allowed it to defrost thinking that might be part of the problem, but nothing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Take the ice dispenser off from the inside freezer door, then see where that whirrling sound is coming from while you press your water dispenser lever in, and hold in your door light switch in.
