    Default kitchenaid KUDS01FLSS6 dishwasher

so here is the deal I have a kitchenaid KUDS01FLSS6 dishwasher, stainless steel superba. The clean light flashes, I can touch the cancel button to clear any settings (normal wash, high temp rinse, etc), but the clean light just keeps flashing. Once I set the wash and rinse and select start and close the door, it just sits there. Nothing happens then the wash and rinse setting disappear and the clean light keeps flashing. That's it! that is what it does. What do you think

Here's the tech. data sheet for your model:
    http://www.servicematters.com/docs/w...%208564549.pdf
Look on the left side middle where it says
    DIAGNOSTICS CYCLE SERVICE FEATURE
Do the keypad sequence its above it to see if the clean light stops blinking.

Ok, here is some information on it:
    http://www.servicematters.com/clean_led/blinking_light.pdf
    http://www.servicematters.com/clean_led/8178496.pdf

Its possibly your heating element thats bad, thats what I find the most when that clean light blinks 7 times.

Here's the heating element for your model in case you need to order it:
Manufacturer part number 8537057 is RepairClinic item number 1164450
    8537057

Also feel it for bumps and pits in it, if so its definitely bad.

The ol' blinking clean light. It is a heater circuit fault detection code. It's been my experience that 6 out 10 calls with this complaint I've found the heater circuit to be intact and no known cause, BUT, there are 2 micro sw's in the door sw, one is strictly for neutral for the entire machine, the other, is strictly for the heater circuit.
So, when you shut your door, put your ear close to the door and pull on the door very slightly, if you hear that micro sw pop open, it's a simple repair.
Bend the metal latch thats attached to the tub down and to the left, the sw in question is on the left and this will keep the sw from popping open.

I had one the other day with the blinking clean light and it had a locked up wash mtr. No circulation of water will cause this failure too.

    Default dishwasher

the clean light is blinking 7 times. I looked at the diagnostics part of the doc and even though the names on the buttons are different I did hit a sequence High Temp -> Energy Saver -> High Temp -> Energy Saver and all lights came on and the clean light went into a rapid fire mode. It sat there for 10 minutes just doing that and I finally hit the cancel button. I checked out the heating unit as suggested. It seems smooth with no pits or anything. There is a little bit of calcium build-up in places, but not much really...

Is the clean light still blinking now after you hit the cancel button?

Thats odd about the clean light going into rapid fire mode after you did the diagnostics key dance, don't think I've ever seen that happen before.

yes, after I hit the cancel button the 7 blinking clean light returns. The rapid fire is like it is doing something. It is not a full blink rapid fire. anyhow, that is where I am. I can also add that about 2 weeks ago when filling/washing it was noisier than usual. Like the motor/pump was working harder...

ok, thats odd, because the clean light should have reset after you did the diagnostic key dance.

You may have a bad control panel keypad assembly.

For the nosier pump when its washing, you could have something stuck in your chopper/screen blade assembly.

So the pump motor won't come on at all now? not even in the diagnostics mode?

ok, i did the diagnostic thing correctly, I did not know to close the door to run the diagnostic. it seems to have done its thing and checked all the cycles. I am now running an empty dishwasher to see if it works. It seems to be working again. I will now wash a load and see if it all works. I will let you know, thanks...

Yes, sorry, I forgot to mention the door has to be closed when running the diagnostics.

Yes, keep us posted on how it goes.
