Default Fills - Won't Continue to Wash

I have a Kitchenaid KUDM24SEBL1
>>
It looks to be about 5 years old. I have had to replace a door spring and upper wash arm - no big deal. But now it is starting - filling up (the heat element is hot) then most times (intermittent) will not continue the cycle. It will act like it is trying to start the wash cycle and sort of surges but the motor does not start. As it surges, the light blink (normal and wash) in time with the surge. When I push cancel that light blinks as it continues to surge. I opened the door for a while. When I closed it and hit cancel it will pump out the water. I checked the drain connection under the sink and it's clear.>>

Hi Jim,

It sounds like an electrical issue in your breaker causing voltage drops and the surging, The way I test for this is to use a volt meter and put the volt meter probes in the 2 wire nuts that connect the main power to your dishwasher, then look at the voltage reading and see if the voltage drops when it surges. Normal voltage should be 120 volts A/C.

It should stay at a constant 120 volts A/C throughout the complete cycle.

I checked the voltage and it tested at 125V. There was a 1/2V drop when the motor started and stopped. I did notice corrosion on the motor from a previous leak.

Ok,

Then You may have a bad pump motor or something jammed/stuck in your wash or drain impeller.

Here's the impeller kit for your model:
Manufacturer part number 675806 is RepairClinic item number 679717
675806

The hardest part is getting the impeller screw out.

Jeff explains here how to do it:
