Default KitchenAid Icemaker won't harvest

I have a KitchenAid side by side fridge with the ice container in the door. The ice maker tray is full and completely frozen but it won't harvest. Any idea what the problem might be. Of course it is 15 months old, so it is out of waranty

Hi,

Your KitchenAid Ice Maker works the same as the Whirlpool Brand.

Here is a thread on the display light and the codes to test:

Default LED is a constant red

I checked the LED and it is a constant red. If I put my finger over the hole to obstruct the optics and the LED flashes. So, it appears my optics are fine. Any other suggestions?

Are the ice maker plastic ejector blades pointed at you at about the 1 or 2 o'clock position?

Default Blades

The blades are slightly lower than level (3), so probably between 3 and 4.

If its that low, you may have a bad ice maker module. Since these are basically all electronically controlled, i would recommend Sears or another appliance repair company come and fix it.

Default Good fortune

I just called KitchenAid and asked them to covering it under waranty since it was only a month out of waranty. They were very good about it and agreed. BTW, how much is an ice maker? It seems straighforward to install.

A new ice maker is about $120-$150 for your model.

Glad KitchenAid will cover it under warranty.
