Did the gas company use a volt meter to see if the oven ignitor is getting 120 volts when the oven is ON?

You can't just assume you have no power to the oven ignitor if it doesn't glow orange when the oven is ON.

First check for 120 volts with a volt meter at your oven igniter while the oven is on. If you have 120 volts at the oven igniter and the oven igniter doesn't glow orange, then yes the oven igniter is bad.

The oven igniter terminals are under the oven in the very back, so you'll need to remove your storage drawer and get a flashlight and put your meter leads on the terminal ends of your oven igniter.

I have found a non-contact voltage detector pen works great for quickly checking to see if you have voltage or not at igniters.

Trouble with them is you must be experienced enough to know the pen only shows "line" and not "power" which is across 2 wires.....can get line but no nuetral = no power.

Guess that is true, I don't use it as often as my meter, but do find it handy.
Can't think of a case were it ever failed me because there was no neutral, but it could happen.

Another problem is 220 volts....many say "I have power" and they don't cause they used the light stick and one line is open but feedback through something like a heating element will show light on both lines.
I agree it is a handy tool, just not for the average DIY'er.

The guy from the gas company did use a volt meter. In addition, the fan on the convection oven usually goes one straight away and it doesn't even fire up.

I'll test it myself at the terminals and see.

Looks like on this model you have a thermal cut-off fuse, if that fuse went out, that would not allow power to your bake glow bar.

Diagram#1 Part location#17 is your thermal fuse, you can ohm that for continuity, unplug your range first, or turn the breaker off, then ohm it.

Looks like its located under the control panel.
