Default Stopping Corrosion on Plastic Coated Basket?

    Model Number: KUDN230YBK0
    Brand: KitchenAid
    Age: More than 10 years

Back in the 1990s something sharp like a knife sliced the plastic coating on the DW. Ever since then every few years or so, I have to cut back a little more plastic, remove all traces of rust and prime/paint. It's approaching 2 inches now. Just wondering if anybody had any better recommendations for coating this 'spot' to stop or better slow down the eventual return of corrosion to this 'spot'?

    Thanks

Is this happening on the dish-rack tins?

If so then this should work:
