Kitchenaid Superba side-by-side fridge not cooling but freezer is....
Brand:
KitchenAid
Age:
More than 10 years
I have a Kitchenaid Superba refrigerator side-by-side and the refrigerator is only getting down to 50 degrees. The freezer works just fine.
I cleaned the condenser coils on the bottom of the refrigerator. The fan at the back of the fridge (bottom) does run at times, not sure if that fan is responsible for blowing the cool air into the fridge.
The vent on the top of the fridge (top left) where the cool air comes in did have a drop of water on it when I last checked. I don't ever feel any air blowing in when I put my hand on the vent.
Any help in further troubleshooting will be appreciated!

The condenser fan in the back of your refrigerator should be running at all times while the compressor is running.
Now you have a freezer fan that should also be running at all times while the compressor is running as well, do you hear that running inside the freezer?
If so, Its possibly your air diffuser vent, put your hand in front of it and feel how much cold air is coming out, then open the freezer door and see it increases the cold air flow through the air diffuser vent.
If no increase air flow after opening the freezer door then put something in the vent, like a pen/pencil or pocket screwdriver and see if that makes the air come out faster, if so order the air diffuser.
Here's the diffuser for your model:

Thanks Jake.
I can hear the fan running in the freezer.
When I put my hand on the air diffuer vents (there's one on top, and one lower) - I don't feel much air coming out, just a bit. When I put my hand on the freezer diffuser vent, I definitely can feel air coming out (much more noticable).
I've changed the temp to be 'coldest' and that didn't change anything.
I've also defrosted the refrigerator, no luck there either.

Hi Jake - I actually was able to get more air to come out by pushing a small screw driver in the upper air diffuser, that definitely made cold air come out.
So, shall I order a new one like you suggested? And, can I see the instructions to do this before I order?
TIA!

Yes, you will need to order the new air diffuser I posted the link to above.
Ok, inside the refrigerator section remove the screws#11 then the trim#17 and #16 shown here: Refrigerator Liner parts for Whirlpool KSRS25IKSS03 - AppliancePartsPros.com
Then you will need to access it from inside the freezer on the top back right side(you may have to remove the ice maker and the air tunnel to get to it.)
You will see it, it has 4 clips that just push-in, then you push the whole assembly out into the refrigerator section.
You gotta kinda push-in and hold those clips in while you push it through into the refrigerator.

I have a similar issue. I have a side-by-side Kitchenaid (KSRB25FNSS00) and I had the same problem outlined above (Freezer working fine, Refridgerator hovering in 50s). I already replaced my diffuser assembly. Compressor and fans seem to be in order. Coils and vents have been cleaned. I am at a loss. Any ideas?

Ok, your air diffuser is #15 here: Refrigerator Liner parts for Whirlpool KSRB25FNSS00 - AppliancePartsPros.com
Did you put your hand in front of the air diffuser to see how much air flow is coming out now since you changed it?
Fan in the freezer is running?
Take some food out of the freezer lower section and look/feel the back panel inside the freezer and see if you feel frost build up on it.

Thank for the reply Jake. I feel some air coming out of the diffuser, but I am not certain how strong it should be. It does not feel that intense. I have had the back panel off in the freezer and the evaporator fan is running smoothly, the coils are lightly and uniformly frosted. The drain below is clear and dry. The compressor and fan underneath appear and sound fine and have been vacuumed clean. COuld there be an issue with the thermistor or controls for the refrigerator? Thanks again for your input.
