Cracked water line on dispenser (KSRS25ILBL00)
Hi everyone,
This KitchenAid side by side is only about 3 years old. The plastic line that flexes in an arc to dispense water into a glass is broken in half where it is held by the clip just above the dispenser handle on the outside of the door. I've tried to dig into this to see if I could just replace a few inches of plastic tubing, but I can't figure out how to get into the dispenser to disconnect it and replace it. I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be a single line that runs down, through the lower hinge and to the back of the unit.
Doesn't really help me because I still don't know how to get to it to replace it.
Any ideas?
BTW, should this be a warranty repair? I don't think this like should have cracked in the few years that I've owned this. You can see a series of stress cracks on the outside of the plastic tube where it is bent and held in place by the metal clip. Obviously, one of them gave way and broke clean through the tubing. Now, when I push the dispenser handle, I get a little bit of water in the cup and a LOT shooting straight at the light bulb in the dispenser.
Any help and suggestions would be welcome!
Thanks,
John

Hi,
You will need to change that plastic tubing and the metal clip, it comes in a kit:
Fitting and tube assembly, water dispenser
You need to take off the dispenser frame to get to it, there are 2 small slots underneath the bottom of your dispenser frame, get a screwdriver and it just pops off.
Yes, the water line runs to the bottom of the door, you will need to take off the kick-plate, and there is a coupler that you will see where it connects, just undo the water line from the coupler that goes up through your door and it just pulls up from the dispenser.
To put the new one in, just run it down the door and reconnect everything.
Unfortunately, the warranty won't cover this repair.
