Default Thermal fuse good or bad?

Model Number: KUDI01ILBL2
Brand: KitchenAid
Age: 1 -5 years

Hi,

My KitchenAid dishwasher KUD10ILBL2 is acting up wierd since last couple days. Sometime the START button would not work while other function buttons are working ok. I've searched posts that are related to this problem but seems no real solution to this issue.

I followed all previous posts, reset the power for hours, opened the control pannel and checked continuity for door switch and thermal fuse and found them ok. I also removed all wires and ribbon from the control board then hooked them back up making sure all connections are good. But the START button is still not working.

This morning, I decided to press the START button again and OMG it work like normal... I really don't know why sometime it work and sometime it does not work? and I'm sure it will not work later tomorrow.

Back to the question, how do I know when the thermal fuse goes bad? can I do the continuity check? any more troubleshoot on this issue?

Thanks
Pat

Default thermal fuse continuity check

tho check the thermal fuse, disconnect the harness and check with ohmeter. You should have contiuity. Also check the door switch(es) for any visible corrosion or discolouration. I would replace if needed.

If the thermal fuse was bad, it wouldn't start at all at anytime.

It sounds more like your control panel keypad is starting to go bad.

Please check your model# again, I can't get any parts information diagrams to pull-up.

Well, it acted up again since 4/2007. All lights are up but the start button won't work. Then works again a few time and now it has no power at all, I have checked the thermal fuse and it definitely went bad (no continuity). I can replace the bad fuse but wonder that the electronic board went bad too since the fuse triggered off? I see no vision of smoke stain or damaged spot on the board.

Do you think I need to replace the control panel too plus the control board?

Hi Pat,

Its more likely just your control panel I'd replace.

Turn your breaker off to your dishwasher first!

Here's the thermal fuse for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 8193762

8193762

You must use the wiring that comes with it, or it will keep going out!

Its easy to change, it comes with complete instructions.

Here's the control panel assembly for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 8531239

Jake
