Red face Ice Maker problem????

We have a six and a half year old Kitchen Aid side by side refrigerator/freezer. The model number is: KSRS25IHBL. It stopped making ice cubes about three days ago. Prior to it stopping, there was water that dripped down out of the ice maker onto the food and the bottom of the freezer. We found it when we opened the door and there were frozen water drips down the front of the drawers and on the food. It doesn't look like anything is wrong with the maker. I haven't taken it out yet....I was hoping that it was an easy issue. It looks like a few others have had a similar problem? I didn't see any solutions other than get a replacement ice maker. Is this the only option at this point or is there something that I can check??

Thanks
MNKam

Default Additional Information

Here is some additional info I didn't put into the original post: There is water in the ice tray and the white prongs are pointing stright up (toward the sky). I noticed that there is a little light or sensor in the wall of the freezer (looks to be some type of sensor to detect when the ice bucket in the door is full???) but it is not lit up either when the switch is pushed in or is out. Could this be part of the problem??

Thanks

Yes, it sounds like your emitter boards may be bad, this thread explains all about it:

Default Additional question

Thanks Jake.....that thread had an emitter and receiver control that was $79.00 but it was under the Kenmore and Whirlpool section in the blog.....Is this the same emitter for my Kitchen Aid #KSRS25IHBL? Also, when the freezer door is open it sounds like there should be light coming out of the little hole on the left wall of the freezer, is that correct?

Thanks

Yes, its the same for your model.

No, you won't see a light from the left side hole. Just the red light from the right side.
