Default Kitchenaid KSRX25FNST01 Icemaker problems

My Kitchenaid side by side's ice maker stopped working yesterday. The unit's 2 years old and has been running perfectly. Does the same solution apply to this model as some of the previous models mentioned here? Would the water filter not being changed have anything to do with it?

Hi zenla13,

It could be a number of different things. That model uses an electric eye to monitor the ice in the bucket. When it's full, it shuts off the ice maker. If any one of those part fail the ice maker would stop. I want to make sure I understand you, the ice bucket auger and the dispenser are working fine and you can get water through the water dispenser but the ice maker is not making ice cubes. Is this correct?

Rick

Hi Rick,

The ice bucket is empty, right now. If I were to put ice in the bucket, the auger would dispense the ice through the door. I am able to get water through the dispenser. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Gerry,

Start by checking your water valve. It's possible the solenoid has failed and the ice maker isn't getting any water.

The water valve located behind the refrigerator where it connects to the water line?

Gerry,

Yes, thats correct. The water valve has two solenoids on it. One is for water and the other is for the ice maker.

Default Problem solved

Thanks for all the input and feedback! After all that, I decide to try something different. I noticed a black rubber piece by the water outlet near the ice tray. I squeezed it and thought it felt hard, too hard for the kind of rubber it was. I ran a blow dryer over it for a few minutes and sure enough, a frozen piece of ice came out of it. Problem solved. My icemaker's working like new again. I turned the thermostat on the freezer down a little so it doesn't occur again. Hopefully that's the end of it. Again, I appreciate all your time!
