What happened to thier quality? My parents had kitchenaid apllicances ever since I was a kid. Those appliances still work 30 years later without any problems. I bought a refrigerator less than two years ago and it has had nothing but problems.
I have a Superba model KSRW25CRSS01. About 6 months ago the refrigerator and freezer side would not keep a constant temperature and would not cool to the specified settings on the digital display. A techinican came out and replaced some part. It was not a control board, it sat in the lower freezer side and had a tube attached to it. It seemed to work fine until recently. We do not use much ice. Up until the problem started we had the ice maker turned off. Now that the ice maker is turned on the problem seems to have returned. The freezer is up in the 40 degree range and the refrigerator side near 60 degrees. A little more info that may help diagnose. The ice maker tray was empty. We turned the icemaker back on and it has been trying to make ice for the past two days. We had also just added some more groceries to the refrigerator side. (A friend was moving out of an apartment and brought over some refrigerated goods.) Everything was fine until 2 days later. The temperture held just fine for the first two days. It seems that the temperature with the extra goods was fine until we turned on the icemaker. We turned on the "max cool" button and the icemaker off and the temperatures have returned to near normal, however, with the max cool option turned on the compressor runs constantly. There is also an ice assist button (I forget its actual name), maybe I should use that when the ice tray is all the way empty in conjuction with the max cool button??? But how long should it be on? Any ideas? I'm ready to ditch this thing for a Frigidaire or an ice chest with some dry ice. |

More questions:
I noticed when the techinicain was on site he had some key sequqence to read out any error codes and another sequence to reset the refrigerator. Anyone know the magic sequence? He used the buttons on the top of the refrigerator side. |
