KitchenAid Range Hood Problem - Please help!
I have a KitchenAid range hood, model # KWCU205HSS-0. One of the bearings in the motor was seized after only two years of usage, so I replaced the motor today. After I replaced the motor I noticed it only operates in single speed, the variable speed control doesn't seem to do anything, it was working before the bearing seized on the motor.
When I replaced the motor I had to solder one of the wire connected to the capacitor. The wire was pinched in the housing from the original assembly, it was damaged to a point where the inside wires were exposed. Could the heat from the soldering damaged the capacitor? Would a damaged capacitor affect the variable speed function of the motor?
I tried disconnecting the capacitor (blue wire) from the circuit and push-started the motor by hand. Once the motor started the variable speed works. When I connected the capacitor back to the circuit, the motor started without hand-push, but variable speed doesn't work. Please help me!
