Refrigerator door accidently left open and will not cool now...
Brand:
LG
Age:
Less than 1 year
We have a LG French Door refigerator and we just got back from vacation after one week. I noticed that the refrigerator doors were left slightly open. When I opended the refrigerator section it was warm and not cooling. However, the freezer section is cold and cooling just fine.
I closed the refrigeration doors and the refrigeration section is still not cooling. Does anybody have any idea what I should do.
Thanks for your help....

Hi,
Try an 24 hour defrost with the refrigerator unplugged and the doors opened...close doors, reinstall power and test after 4-6 hours of running.

One of 2 things has happened. Either the damper door is frozen shut or the return air vent inside the freezer is blocked with ice. You can do a test to find out which one is the problem but you will need a helper.
Open the freezer door and have that person press and hold the door switch to activate the fan. The freezer door must stay open. Open one of the refrigerator doors and press and hold the door switch. When the fan is running in freezer, reach into the refrigerator cooling vents in the back wall to see if you can feel any cold air coming out.
If you feel cold air coming in, you have a blocked return vent inside the freezer evaporator area probably iced over from the door being left open for a long time.
If you don't feel cold air coming in, you have frozen or broken damper door and needs to be serviced.
Hope this helps.
