Default Maytag performa washer fills...and that all, folks!

Water will fill to desired level, and then nothing. No sounds, no movement, zero. What I do hear is the sound like the whole washer having just shot craps.

It's about 8 years old, and no other trouble. I have drained the water from the tub, and then re-filled it to make sure. The washer will fill, then die.

I don't suspect it's the lid switch, because I know the washer would previously agitate with the lid open. Can a fuse be blown somewhere? I also doubt this because the washer does operate, at least a little bit (fills) so power is getting to the machine.

Any ideas? I suspect 8 years is the shelf life and it's time to spend $ on a new one ...

    Thanks,

Possibly the lid switch, timer or motor.

Average life is about 8-15 yrs. old nowadays.

Whats the model# of your washer? its located inside the lid or on the top console.

I would suspect either a bad lid switch or a fill level switch, either could cause it to fill and go dead, that does not look like a proper model number, believe should have some letters first before the numbers...
