Default Maytag double oven heating problems

So sorry, I actually posted this in the Kenmore section but found out that I have a Maytag 8114P395-60 (I think this is the model number)

We moved into a home about a year ago that has a double (built into the wall) oven. The previous owners said that the kitchen had been completely re-modeled within the past ten years so the oven is less than ten years old.
Although both the upper and lower ovens do heat up to the selected temperature (I tested it with an oven thermometer) they do so slowly and were not at the selected temperature when the oven temperature readout indicated that it was at the set temperature. (Am I making sense here?)

Also, when I bake cakes, etc...the outer edges burn and the inner portion is not fully cooked. I have tried using smaller pans but this doesn't really help all that much. Really hate the ovens anyway (we call them 'easybake' ovens) because they are so small(about 16 inches wide and deep) and will not accomodate standard sized bake pans. I used to bake wedding and graduation cakes. Those days are gone.

Any clue as to what could be going on with the uneven and slow heating? And is it worth repairing or would we be better served to cook cakelets on our George Foreman grill?!!

Hi,

No, thats not the model#, please check again, its either located inside one of the oven doors, or on the very bottom.

Is this gas or electric?

Thanks,

A couple things to do, I always use a digital oven thermometer to get the most accurate reading. Here's the type I use that you can get:
Polder Cooking Thermometer with Timer and Clock

Next you can actually adjust your electronic clock control to offset the temperature higher if its too low, Read page#19 here:
http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/asse...112P324-60.PDF
Then page#13 has the common baking problems and why they happen section.
