Default Maytag Quiet Series 300 Dishwasher - Control Panel Dead

    Hi,

I have a Maytag Quiet Series 300 Dishwashwer - Model Number MDBTT79AWS which is a little over 4 years old. It stopped working in the middle of a cycle and seemed to go completely dead, which also left quite a bit of water in the bottom.

I have checked that none of the breakers tripped, so it should still have power. Before yanking it out of the wall or calling a service tech I wanted to see if I could isolate the problem first. From previous posts in this forum the control board seems to go bad on these. However some people have a bad latch and some have a corroded ribbon cable. Is there a way to test the latch without taking the inner cover off the door, or some other way to narrow down the possibilities without a complete tear down?

    Thanks for any assistance,
    Marc

    Hi Marc,

Sounds like you might have a bad door switch (common). If they check good it might me a control board issue.

Thanks for the quick response. Looks like it's just a bad wiring.

Before I got into the guts of the thing I wanted to make sure it was actually getting power. I found the conduit on the bottom after removing a couple of panels. As I was trying to work the probes up into the twist caps to check the power it all the sudden came to life.

I guess the wires had worked just loose enough to not make a solid connection. I don't think the installer used a cap big enough for that gauge of wire. So after a quick re-wire the dishwasher was back in action.

    Thanks again for the help.
