Default Maytag MLE2000AYW Dryer wont start

My dryer was running fine until today. After the third load, the dryer just stopped. The timer makes noise..but when I push start, nothing happens. The washer works fine.

Where should I start???

Hi,

It sounds like your thermal fuse went out, you have 2 on this model, I use a ohm meter to check for continuity when I test them. You can get a cheap volt/ohm meter at Radio Shack.

Make sure you unplug or turn the breaker off to your dryer first.

Here's the parts diagram for your model:
MLE2000AYW
Diagram#10 Part location#11 is your heater thermal fuse.
Diagram#11 Part location#10 is your main thermal fuse.

Thanks Jake. I unplugged the unit for the evening and plugged it in again this a.m. Voila! It works.

Was this a one time event or is this likely to happen again? We were running the dryer for a while?

Glad its working good again, maybe just a one time thing.

Its ok to run the dryer a long time if your doing alot of loads at a time, that shouldn't have any impact on the parts messing up.
