Question Maytag Performa PDB3430AWE Drain Problem

I bought this unit in 2001 and it's worked pretty well. I had to replace the lifter a couple of years ago (thanks Jake!). Last week it started acting up; it wouldn't drain out. I popped off the arm and strainer and found that the replacement lifter had snapped, so I ordered another one. I installed the new one tonight and I'm still having drain issues.

I figure there maybe a clog in the pump or hose, but it's late and I'm tired so it'll have to wait until tomorrow or the weekend. Any advice on pulling the pump on this unit? Anything I should look out for? I've managed to drain it manually by disconnecting the hose from the line out and draining into a bucket, so if there is a clog it doesn't seem to be complete. What should my next step be if there's no clog?

Thanks,

P

Hi P, welcome back,

I Haven't worked on many of these models of Maytag, these pumps are quite different than the standard ones I see alot of here in Oregon.

Here's the parts diagram for your model:

Diagram#4 shows your pump/motor assembly

I got the panel off and saw that the solenoid pull had come out of the spring release. I got that put back together and ran a rinse cycle. Everything seemed to run fine. I'm running a regular load now. I'll let you know how it goes.

The load came out clean and no water left in the tub, so I think we're all good now. Thanks again, Jake.

Reawakening an old thread!

It looks like the lifter broke again on this one. I think I ordered multiple lifters last time this happened - let's hope I can remember where I stored them.

We've been having some small leaks lately with this - nothing bad enough for me to get my hands dirty yet. But when I took off the bottom panel to get to the solenoid, I saw this:

Should I be concerned? Is there a larger problem or is this just normal cruft?

Thanks again,

P

Yes, you will need a new one, I don't know why that keeps happening.
