Default [FIXED] Maytag MZD2766GE Ice Maker Housing Broken

The little motor in the back of my freezer that turns the auger in the ice tray to dispense ice has broken. The housing in the back of the freezer cracked and the gear that turns the auger has fallen into the housing.

The gear is still working but the housing that the mechanism mounts to is totally shattered. There is nothing for the motor to mount to so the housing needs to be replaced. Is this housing a part that can be replaced? If so, how would I get the part number for it and where should I order it from?

That definitely is my ice maker. If you look at part #8. That is the motor that turns the auger in the ice tray. Part #8 mounts with four screws to the plastic tray that the pull out ice tray sits on. That is the part that is broken.

That plastic housing that the 4 screws attach to that hold the motor is destroyed. It totally cracked and broke. That is the part I need. I don't see a part number on the diagram that you provided for that tray.

Jake, that is exactly what I need. That baby got destroyed where the motor mounts to it. I heard that there was a recall on that part at one time. I will get the part ordered. Thank You!

The mission has been completed. I had to remove the 1/4 inch screw under the tray in order to remove it. Once it was removed all I had to do was swap the screws over and mount the motor onto the new tray. Thanks for your help. Everything is working fine.

Default Another Ice Enclosure Problem

I have the same problem with the Ice Enclosure. I've ordered the part and now having problems getting the motor/auger installed. I assume the auger (item #9 on the diagram) unscrews from the motor shaft. I've tried to unscrew it but having difficulty and thought better to ask than to force and possibly break.

Regards, Sandflea
