Default Jenn Air gas range JDS9860AAP

I'm getting no spark in one of the burner modules. When I switch sides with them, it still doesn't work but the other one does when placed in either location. So that must mean the problem is in the module (or component) itself, right? The only parts I see that appear to have something to do with the spark are the spark module and the top burner ignitor. Is the problem more likely to be one rather than the other or could it be something else all together? Thanks for your help. Tom

Hi Tom,

Sounds like its possibly your spark(burner) switch.

Page 24 explains how to access it:

Which one is giving you the trouble, the right or left one?

Page 2 here tells you how to test it:

Thanks for your help. The problem is with one of the cartidges -- it doesn't work no matter which side I put it on while the other one works on either side. Is there a part in the cartridge itself that may need to be replaced?

So the cartridge has 2 burners in it? Front and Back? Both don't work at all?

But you put the other cartridge in from the other side it works?

Your cartridge should have a model# on it, please post that so I can check.

You're right, the cartridge has 2 burners in it - Front and Back. They will light manually but not via a spark because that cartridge doesn't click or produce a spark. But when I put the other cartridge in from the other side it works just fine. I looked but can find no model number on the outside of the cartridge. The serial number for the range is 20554602ET if that is of any help. Thanks, Tom

Ok, #10 here is your spark(burner) #21 is your burner igniter, #20 is the burner.

If the other cartridge is working in the place where the other cartridge was, then we know that its not #10, so it would have to be the #21 igniter: Manufacturer's Number: 74004053

That #20 burner should just twist to remove.

Also check your wiring in your cartridge to make sure the wires are fine.
