Jake,
Our Jenn-Air refrigerator, model # JRSD209TB is having "issues" with the ice maker. It seems that over a period of a week or so, we get a buildup of "ice rocks" in the ice making bin. It's as if some of the cubes will adhere to each other, and eventually create a rather large mini-glacier inside the ice bin so that I have to literally take hammer and chisel to the large chunk of ice. The cubes seem to melt into one massive piece of ice, and does not even resemble a well formed cube. Other than that, it makes ice just fine, the dispenser works properly, even the ice crusher. But this build up has me concerned. Suggestions? Thank you, Ed Marshall Akron, OH ![]() |

Hi Ed,
Usually when the ice cubes start sticking together like that it either means you have an air leak from either your freezer door gasket or ice dispenser door chute. Or even if the freezer temp. is not at a constant 0-10 degrees. If you don't see an air leak, buy a freezer thermometer and put it in your freezer and see what it reads throughout the day. This is the one I use in mine, you can order it as well: Thermometer Jake

Jake,
Well, after a few weeks of observation, I see water leaking from the ice maker itself. This water is leaking into the ice cube bin, causing these massive ice jams that prevent the dispenser from working properly. I have had to use hammer and chisel several times to remove this mini-bergs, so that I could empty out the ice bin and start over. How can I repair this icemaker, or do I need to replace the entire ice making device? Thank you, Ed Marshall Akron, OH |

Yes Ed, you'll need to install a new ice maker assembly.
Here's the cheapest ice maker assembly I found for your model: Manufacturer's Number: D7824706Q Jake
